"James Hunter, Certificate IV in Screen and Media graduate form Metro Screen is currently in pre-production on 'One of Us'. A feature film set against the backdrop of World War I. James describes it as “a character piece about a young nurse [Rose] and a soldier [Will].” The film is in two parallel sections, set in Egypt, France and Birmingham. James is hoping to shoot in NSW and hopefully the ACT depending on budget [upwards of $1m], and his aim at the moment is to get a producer on board to secure investors. He was fortunate to receive money from ScreenACT to offset the cost of the pitch, and is grateful for their confidence in him. James received his training at Metro Screen doing the six month certificate IV. The course was primarily focused on film training, and he had the opportunity to work on lots of other people’s shorts and commercials, and he now feels ready to embark on making his own feature.
