Ruby doesn’t respond well to criticism, especially of those she loves. Yearn is about the spoken and often unspoken disapproval experienced by people who are “different", and the solidarity and loyalty forged among those that share that mantle of exclusion. It is also about love, and how it is made stronger through a defiant unity.
