Want to produce an edgy new comedy series for TV?
Metro Screen is calling for expressions of interest from early career Indigenous producers interested in producing two five-minute TV episodes. The show [currently in pre-production] is an exciting new Indigenous television comedy created by a talented rising writer/director.
We are looking for focused, organized, time-conscious and capable individuals looking for ground floor entry into the broadcast television industry.
This TV show is made possible through Metro Screen’s Out There and Deadly program funded with the support of Screen NSW.
This is a ‘career breaking’ chance to work with a gifted emerging writer/director with established skills in the comedy genre and be part of a brand spanking new fresh and original program. There is a small Producer's fee paid as part of the position and the very strong likelihood of a national broadcast credit. The program will be Series Produced by one of Australia’s most experienced Indigenous Producers alongside a first class production team.
All six episodes of this sharp and engaging series will be wrapped and delivered by February 6th, 2012.

Out There and Deadly Film funding + support recipients announced

The three recipients of the Metro Screen Out There and Deadly film funding and support are:
Richard Jameson with ‘Émigré’.
Drama: salvation redemption tale.
Scott Williams with ‘Fire In the Sky’.
Documentary drama: Indigenous astrology.
Danny Teece-Johnson with ‘60,000 Years of Laughter’.
Documentary: humour in Indigenous culture.
Metro Screen, in partnership with Screen NSW, offers these three experienced filmmakers of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, the opportunity to develop their film and storytelling skills through the production of their short work.

Out There and Deadly production funding and support is generously supported by Screen NSW.
Out There and Deadly provides
- A cash budget of $13,000 for production and crew fees
- Metro Screen production equipment and post production facilities to the value of $2000
- The consultation services of a professional Script Editor
- An industry professional mentor throughout the production period
- Three Masterclasses held at Metro Screen in Sydney [travel and accommodation is provided]
- A special cast and crew theatrical screening event of all three Out There and Deadly films
- 12 months complimentary membership with Metro Screen

Successful applicant responsibilities
Successful applicants MUST:
- Attend three, one day Masterclasses held at Metro Screen in Sydney [travel and accommodation is provided]
- Produce a finished film of up to 10 minutes by the deliverables date
Application materials required
- A completed application form
- The completed script
- A one line AND one paragraph AND one page synopsis
- Director’s Statement [half page max]
- Producer Statement where relevant [half page max]
- Bio/CV of applicant [one page max]
- Short bio of key crew if known [half page max]
- A DVD containing at least one screened work made by the applicant.
- Budget - must use template provided
