Funding + Support

Metro Screen provides production funding and support through our BREAKS PROGRAM and two production grant programs.

BREAKS PROGRAM FUNDING + SUPPORT
Metro Screen's Breaks Program, in partnership with Screen NSW and Screen Australia, annually offers new and experienced filmmakers the opportunity to develop their stories and skills through three different programs.
Drama, documentary, animation, experimental or cross platform works will be considered. 

BREAKS PROGRAMS
first break | production funding for first time filmmakers | projects up to 8 min | $3,000 cash budget | Open to all filmmakers with three places reserved for Indigenous Australians and four places for those with a non-English speaking background | 2011 application deadlines will be announced in the final quarter of 2010.

Note: Metro Screen’s Lester Bostock Indigenous Mentorship, Multicultural Mentorship and Raw Nerve programs are now being run as First Break.

Production subsidies
Jump Start
Metro Screen's Jump Start production grants offer $45,000 worth of equipment and facilities annually via three application rounds. Applicants should be realistic about the amount of support sought.  The Jump Start program provides substantially subsidised access to facilities to successful applicants, some cash contribution is required.

Pitching competITIons
Network Production Grants of $15,000 are given annually. Awarded through our regular calendar of Metro Screen Network events.
