FILM + TV SCHOLARSHIP
MAKE A TV COMMERCIAL + SHORT FILM IN FOUR WEEKS

An intensive course in digital production and post production pathways. Learn to shoot, record sound and edit. This course is ideal for anyone seriously considering a career in film or TV who can commit to four weeks of full time study this November.
No prior experience is required.

Taught by industry professionals this course provides practical experience with high quality equipment and includes theory work. Participants will plan, shoot and edit a number of video projects including a short film and television commercial [TVC].

On successful completion, students will receive a DVD of their work and a Statement of Attainment towards the Certificate IV in Screen. Students will be well placed to seek a traineeship or employment in the media industry, or continue with further study.

OUR TOWN
Aspiring filmmakers

Metro Screen is looking for aspiring filmmakers to create OUR TOWN, a documentary about the Clarence River.

OUR TOWN is a cross-cultural documentary that will explore the importance of the Clarence River to the local community. Filmmakers Leonie Dickinson and Rebecca Ingram will work with local young people (16 to 25yrs) to construct this short documentary.

Participants of OUR TOWN will learn skills in story development, camera & sound technique, film production and editing.
OUR TOWN will be created over six weeks and will involve three weekend training workshops. The first workshop is on 27th & 28th October.

Participation in OUR TOWN is free but numbers are limited so register quickly.

START YOUR FILM CAREER NOW WITH
THE METRO SCREEN FILMMAKING SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Metro Screen is running a Screen Scholarship in the Newcastle area between April and July 2007.

Each student will produce a 7-25 minute film about their lives, and will be involved in all areas from scriptwriting to shooting, editing, sound design and grading.

Be taught by industry professionals and start your career in film and video. This course is fully funded by DET (The Department of Education & Training), with students only paying an enrolment fee of $275 for this 13 week course, valued at over $4000.

JUVENILE JUSTICE FILM PROJECT
(December 2006 – January 2007)
Three young women from a NSW Juvenile Justice Centre will undertake a video production workshop, and work in conjunction with Mobile Unit to produce a short documentary about their lives. All shooting will take place within the Juvenile Centre where the girls are being remanded.

NARRABRI INDIGENOUS FILM PROJECT (January 2007)
Metro’s Mobile Unit will work with 6 young indigenous men to produce a short film around the themes of drugs, alcohol and young people. In the lead up to this project Metro Screen is developing the script in conjunction with program participants via correspondence.
This program is fully funded by PNAN.

BONALBO FILM PROJECT (January 2007)
Mobile Unit will work with 6 young people from a cross-section of the remote community of Bonalbo to produce a short film around the theme of drugs, alcohol and young people. The film will focus on local issues of drug and alcohol abuse in a dramatic and engaging way. In the lead up to this project Metro Screen is developing the script in conjunction with program participants, via correspondence.
This program is fully funded by PNAN.

COFFS COAST SUMMER SCHOOL (January 2007)
Students from the Coffs Coast region will learn the fundamental creative and technical aspects of short filmmaking, with industry tutors Adrian Rostirolla and Kim Mordaunt. From script development and storyboarding, through to shooting and lighting, and finally to editing using final cut pro, all course participants will learn through a practical, hands-on approach. Working groups will be kept small to ensure that all participants get the opportunity to rotate through key crew roles and get first hand experience with operating equipment. Three short films will be produced over the duration of the course.
